Wear boots if you've got them
I met with the Forest Service last week about the event and there were a few details about what to wear that came out of that meeting. Check it.
- No sandals please. Bring them for the BBQ that Backcountry.com will be hosting - more info to come on this gem
- If you will be using any of the tools - shovel, pulaski, rock bar, etc - then we ask that you wear hiking boots - the burly kind your dad used to wear
- If you don't have hiking boots, wear a sturdy trail runner or day hiker shoe
- Bring some leather work gloves. Your dad should have some out in the shed.
- Garden gloves work too. Mom has some with the potting soil
- Throw in a sweatshirt or a fleece - it could be chilly up there
- Long pants are preferred - for your safety and for the Forest Service regulations
- Bug spray - unless you are into organic blood donation and feeling lucky against the west nile.
That's it for now.
Oh yea - don't know what a pulaski is? Aside from being a Fort in Georgia, a doctor on Star Trek and the name of a lake it a trail tool. Here's a little trail tools breakdown from International Mountain Biking Association.
