Statik Mountain Throws Down

StatikmountainAfter a vigorous round of phone tag and a few e-mail swaps Statik Mountain is confirmed as a sponsor for the Ruth Lake Adopt-a-Crag event.

Makers of chalk bags, chalk buckets, boulder pads, climbing clothing and lifestyle apparel, Statik Mountain is a young company based out of Logan, Utah.  One thing is for sure - these guys are die hard climbers through and through.  Word is that some of their sponsored athletes will be on board to pick up a shovel and put in a good days work.

Get yourself up to Ruth Lake this Saturday, get yourself some karma points and you might walk home with some Statik Mountain threads.

ProBar - Food for the volunteers

Probaroriginal ProBar, a local company from Heber Utah, has agreed to deliver some ProBar's to the crew that show up for the trail restoration and crag clean up project on July 22. These bars are sure to keep the trail and crag crew's energy levels topped off for a day of great work.

If you've not eaten a ProBar for your adventure energy food then you should check it out.  Check out the Chuck Norris Power of the ProBar.

Liberty Mountain is in - as in BOTH feet in!

There is nothing better than as an event organizer when you have a solid list of "go-to" companies.  They are the ones who share a similar passion as you and your own company do (in my case, Backcountry.com) for the event. I knew that Liberty Mountain would be one of those "go-to" companies and they didn't disapoint. The discussion went something like this (via e-mail):

---------

Backcountry - "Hey Liberty Mountain, you in?"

Liberty Mountain - "You know it.  Need anything specific for the raffle?"

BC - "Uh, you guys have a million different items [they distribute Edelweiss Ropes, New England Ropes, CMI, Life-Link, Vaude, ABC, Kong, Nalgene and a whole pile of stuff] – I’ll leave it up to you. Either a bunch of small items for each person or a couple of big things like rope bags or perhaps one rope - that would be sweet."

LM -How’s this:

2 – Edelweiss Axis 10.3mm x 60m ropes $150ea
2 – Singing Rock Zenith harnesses (size M) $40ea
1 – Canyon Ropebag $27.95
1 – CaVa women’s Cuper shoe (size 7)  can be exchanged. $89.95

$500 retail.

BC - "Damn fine showing!"

This trail work and rock crag clean up event will be ultra sweet.  Stay tuned for more good news and details.

The North Face kicks down

The North Face has jumped on board to support the Ruth Lake crag day by kicking down some raffle items including some of their hydration packs.  The North Face is a long time corporate partner of the Access Fund at the Platinum level ($10,000+) since 1995.

We're stoked to have them on board and appreciate their support.

Patagonia on board

Patagonia called today - they're on board to support the event.  Look for a few items from them to show up in the free gear give away after the trail and crag work.  Additionally we're coming up with a raffle of sorts for some sweet gear from Patagonia to see if we can't raise a few extra clams to get some additional trail crew on the other crag trails in the area.

I know, I know - sounds like double dipping.  We pay taxes and now we pony up to use the land and do things to raise money that will take care of it?  Don't get me started on how screwed up this administration is about taking care of our natural resources but the facts are that the trail crew for the Uinta Forest Service District (Kamas and Evanstan Districts) have gone from 8 to 5 full timers from last year to this.  Crying shame since use has gone up.

I'll keep you posted about what we scheme.

Black Diamond steps up

True to form Black Diamond is going to sponsor the Ruth Lake crag event with event schwag and helping out with spreading the word.  I knew we could count on our friends at BD.  Look for some cool prizes from BD in the free drawing after the trail and crag work is through.
